The MXR Sub Machine Octave Fuzz (M225) mashes up some thick fuzz with a one-octave-lift to make that familiar Hendrix-style tone - to name but one. Previously, this tone-shredding stompbox was only available from the MXR Custom Shop but has now been given the more affordable and attainable factory treatment. Manipulate the fuzz controls provided by this La Machine-style pedal and gain control over the fuzz intensity, pulling it from a subtle, raw edge to a deliciously overpowering distortion. Hit the footswitch on the right, an add one octave higher for an even broader, even richer layer of fuzz.
The Sub Machine: The Sub Octave
The most unique tweak of the Sub Machine is the Sub Octave, the presence of which is simply controlled via the Sub pot. Toggle the Series switch to determine the depth of influence the fuzz has over the sub, or select the independent and 'clean' sub-octave. Then, simply adjust the balance of brightness using the Tone pot before setting the Level pot to match the bypass output or add a nice fuzz-covered boost as soon as you activate the pedal.
